The File Menu

The File menu provides commands for overall control of the YAAC application. The commands include:

Load - load into YAAC a saved file of:
- APRS Packets - APRS and/or other protocol packets/frames
- Objects and Items - UIView-compatible .pos file containing Object and Item records
- Tactical names - alternate (tactical) names and/or symbols for specific stations and/or objects, using a CSV file with 3 columns in the order:
  1. station callsign-SSID or object name
  2. the tactical alias name (must not contain commas)
  3. the optional alternate APRS symbol table ID and symbol code to use an alternate icon for the station or object
- drawing overlay files
- YAAC GPS log files to convert into drawing overlay polyline tracks
Save - save to a disk file:
- APRS Packets - the currently collected and viewed APRS and other protocol packets/frames
- Objects and Items - a UIView-compatible .pos file of all currently live Objects and Items
- Tactical names - currently defined alternate (tactical) names and symbols for stations and/or objects
Print - send the current map or table display to the printer.
Clear the records loaded into the table viewed in the current window (for tables whose contents can be cleared; the menu choice will appear only when valid, currently only for the Raw Packets, Raw Messages, Bulletins, and DX views), and will raise a confirmation dialog to ensure you really want to make this irreversible operation before it does it. There are three variations, to delete all messages, only real-time messages, and only logfile playback messages.
OpenStreetMaps -
- Download OpenStreetMap Extract Dataset - launch your web browser pointed at a site from which you can download OpenStreetMap datasets. Note that if you have disabled secure HTTP (HTTPS) transfers, the list of choices may be reduced or eliminated, as many of the sites now use HTTPS to ensure user privacy.
- Import OSM Map Data File - update the stored map tile data from a OpenStreetMaps distribution file.
- Download Precompiled Tiles - download OpenStreetMap tile files that have already been compiled into YAAC binary format from the YAAC author's website.
Topographic - download topographic map tiles from the US Geological Survey.
Configure - configure the installation-specific settings of the application, including the local station callsign, interface ports to TNCs, GPSs, and the Internet, local beacon definitions, digipeating options, etc., etc.
Configuration can be done either with a convenient wizard that walks you through the important aspects of configuring YAAC, or by direct expert-mode access to all the configuration parameters.
Close - close the current window. If this is the last open YAAC window, YAAC will be shut down.
Exit - shut down the YAAC application.
